Now Touring: Medium Build Takes King of Having Fun on the Road

Medium Build is taking  King of Having Fun somewhere it belongs: on the road.

The new album arrives September 4, with a fall run that already feels like one worth circling early.

Recorded live in the studio with close friends and collaborators, King of Having Fun leans into the chemistry of people actually making music together. Across 14 tracks, Nick Carpenter moves through country, rock, indie, R&B, and everything in between without sanding down the parts that make Medium Build feel so human in the first place.

The songs we have heard so far already make the case for seeing this era in person. “Home Depot,” “Armor,” and “In My Gut” are conversational, a little unruly, funny when they want to be, and vulnerable without overworking it. They feel made to leave the record and become something bigger once there is a room full of people around them.

This fall, Medium Build will take King of Having Fun across North America from October through November, with stops in Washington, D.C., New York, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Nashville, and plenty more in between. Support across the run includes Ken Yates, Bella White, Merle Law, The Scratch, and Eden Joel.

There are a lot of tours filling up the calendar this fall. This is one we would not want to miss.

Everyday Jams will definitely be catching the run when it reaches Los Angeles at The Bellwether on November 5 and Phoenix at The Van Buren on November 6. If the first songs from King of Having Fun are any indication, this feels like a record that is going to make even more sense live.
